Hello Friends & Family –

What an exiting year 2010 was. It was an eventful year filled with excitement as well as big changes that required me to trust God completely.

Shortly after 2010 began, I knew there were going to be some changes in my life…I just didn’t know what those changes were going to include and I definitely didn’t expect to be moving out of the country within a year.

In June of 2010 I went on my third short-term mission trip to Burkina Faso. While I was there I was asked to consider returning for a year long internship. My first response was to tell the Feilds (the couple who asked me to consider the internship) there was no way I could raise that kind of money. After the topic came up a few more times while I was in Burkina Faso, I agreed to pray about the possibility. As I prayed, I realized I was limiting God by allowing finances to stop me from going. At that time, I decided to pursue the possibility of returning to Burkina Faso for a year. I prayed that God would continue to open the doors if this is what He wanted me to do and that he would slam the doors closed if this is not what He wanted. God has continued to open doors over and over again…and on January 28th I will be boarding a plane to move to Burkina Faso for the next year.

If it weren’t for people like you, I would not be able to move to Burkina Faso. I want to thank you again for supporting me and helping me make this move. You have not only supported me financially, but many of you have prayed for me regularly and encouraged me as I sought God for direction and guidance.

Many have asked what I will be doing while in Burkina Faso. I will be working with the Feild family who is from my church and moved to Burkina Faso in January 2010. I will be homeschooling 2 of their 5 children as well as serving alongside them in other ministries. I am sure I will have more to share once I am there and serving. My goal is send you an update each month so you will know what is going on in Burkina Faso.

As I prepare to depart for Burkina Faso, please continue to pray for me. I am including a few specific ways you can pray for me:
- My family and me as we say goodbye
- Safe travels
- Adjustment as I arrive in Burkina Faso and begin working
- Learning French
- Ministry opportunities
- Continued guidance and direction as I make decisions about where to serve

Thanks again!!

Joanna
